In the session of the Council of State on Friday 5 February 2021, Marianne Jakobsen was appointed as the new director general of UNE for a period of six years.

Marianne Jakobsen has extensive experience as a manager in the immigration administration. From 2002 she worked in the Immigration Appeals Board, first as section manager, and later for 10 years as head of the asylum departement. Since 2019, Jakobsen has worked as an administrative manager in the Police's immigration unit.
- I am glad that Marianne Jakobsen will take on this important public mission. We have got a very experienced manager to set the course for the further development of the Immigration Appeals Board, says Minister of Justice and Public Security Monica Mæland (H).
